God damn it. So this thread convinces me to buy a PS3. I go hit up the deals sites to see what sort of package I can get. I can get a 360 Elite + 2 bundled games for under $300 with cash back. Not only do I not see any PS3 deals, but I go to Amazon so I can avoid sales tax, and what do I see, the smallest PS3 is going for $360 + $12 S/H.

WTF is this shit? MSRP is $299.

From what I've pieced together for some reason there's a PS3 shortage, which means no fucking deals, and even Amazon is out of stock and all the 3rd party seller's jacked to price up to take advantage.

Well, MLB: The Show is awesome as fuck too, but God of War III is gonna be the Best Selling Game of this year in all likelihood.

God of War is a huge game for me. Loved the first 2 on the PS2. Also, it seems just about every 360 exclusive game also comes out on the PC (And I have a decent gaming rig), whereas PS3 games are a lot less likely to make the transition.

I just bought the 120gb elite with Pure and Lego Batman to replace the arcade 360 I had bought used that just rrod'd on me last week for $299. I was gonna wait since I have the ps3 and all but I need me my mw2 and halo wars on live.

That combined with your desire for Blu Ray should tell you which route you need to go sir...

I'd wait til there are a few more consoles availible. (Possibly even wait and see if there's a God of War III Bundle set available in a few months.)

word, that's the Xmas bundle. That's the bundle I won in a drawing at work back in December.

why would you buy a new one instead of just sending the old one back? You suck at buying electronics erich.

Yup, I'm definitely going PS3. I'll either buy a bundle at Costco, or wait for some good deal to turn up on SlickDeals. Dell had a sweet deal the other day, but it sold out before I got to it.

Short story - I went to Walmart in PA and bought the 360 regular Elite (no bundle) on Monday, luckily didn't open it. On Wednesday I went to the Radio Shack up there to buy a charger for my Tomtom and saw the bundle with the games. I bought it there, went back to the trailer, got the other one and returned it at Walmart. The lady at the counter asked me why I was returning it and I told her I found the bundle for the same price. She didn't believe me I guess because she broke the seal on the box(I told her I had never even opened it) to take everything out and make sure I hadn't messed with it or replaced it with another. I guess they have had problems with that before...


And Paul, I got it used from a friend of a friend and it was years old, way past warranty. I kept the hd from that one to put on the new one though so I'll have all my downloads I think on the new one when I set it up...

Walmart doesn't care if you open it or not. Most items have a 90 day return policy. I returned a 37" TV after more than a month.

They'll open any electronics you return, even if sealed. Too big of a problem with people buying something, taking it out and replacing it with something different (Old broken version, bricks, whatever), and then returning it for a refund. Too many ways to open/reseal an item to make it look like it was never opened.

like opening it from the bottom placing wood blocks inside and using super glue to reseal the box? Not that I know anything about that

Well, I picked up a used 40GB today at lunch off Craigslist. Overpaid for it, but still cheaper than buying new. Figured it wasn't worth waiting 1-2 months for PS3's to come back in stock to drive used prices back down, and it was actually the best price I've seen for one in the last week or so.

Will find out tonight if I got ripped off or not.

Came with 6 games, a couple of which I'll probably actually play. No PS2 emulation which kinda sucks. Still need to finish GOW2.
