At least the sampler is better than Wicked, all four versions of it, combined.

Should I listen to the sampler? I turned it off mid-way into the title-track because I had some will power.

No

I remember the first songs they released for Shangri-La were Homies, Crossing the Bridge, and Ain't Yo Bidness. At the time people were like "WTF OMG". Now the album's ranked pretty high in their catalog. So we shall see.

One thing's for sure. They haven't been this excited about a release since Shangri-La.

Hmmm, somewhere between my expectations and a surprise. In the deepest part of my little painted heart, I was hoping to hear some really goofy shit about necks exploding with screaming choruses, but this definately sounds more similar to Tempest Era.

But, that doesn't mean it's bad. Goofy ideas and passion are the main things that have been a bit low lately, and the overall presentation of the sampler, while a bit weak, does seem playful and creative.

The opening track seemed like, in better quality, it could be pretty damn cool. Most of the rest, you hear too little to tell much, so it's hard to say. I still think they have what it takes to make great songs, I loved High rise, Growing Again, and several others for this era.

Fuck Juggalo Island, sounds like a Calm B-side, but the rest has good potential.

PS: Menthol, I doubt you wil since I've read your hate since Day one, but if you can force yourself to listen to Wicked a few times through, it could grow on you. I hated it the first 4 damn times through, but it actually came together, it's not bad now for me.

Why would I want music I don't like to grow on me?

lol, fair enough. I very nearly just tossed it aside, but worked at it just cause I was attached to Twiztid, and new if this CD sucked too I was done with them. Now-days I actually enjoy it, since I can hear it was different songs instead of a continuous blur of mediocrity.

Only album that even had to grow on me was The Calm...it wasn't that bad. I don't really get alot of the hate for anything that gets shit on except Wicked and The Shining. Two newest ones were the crapiest ever imo. Especially on Twiztids part...I dig the remixes so far and the sampler isn't bad atall. Some of the clips sound great! I don't really care about the name/s too much anymore...I know there's tons of other shit but Like juggalo island is so lol wtf? Juggalo Homies and Juggalo Paradies are just so much better! I don't see the tracks being meh' based off the snippets. Unless they went Hollywood and only put the good parts in it. Just hope they play some shit at the GOTJ.

I'm waiting until I get a sampler off the streets before I listen.
I'm not surprised that you guys for the most part are dissing it. Seriously though, even if it did sound like a sequel to Ringmaster you guys would be saying it sounds like butt.
Since the beginning of this Bang! Pow! Boom! hype they said it will be old school mixed with the new style and if I heard it, I'll bet that's exactly what it would sound like.
If you truly are a fan of the ICP, just sit back and let the creators create and take it for what it is. You'll never be disappointed again.

RE: Bang Pow Boom Sampler....
I don't remember Ringmaster or Riddle Box having a Juggalo Paradise type song or anything I heard on that sampler.

So now I'm just hoping this is as much "old school" as Shangri-La was to Riddle Box and Hell's Pit was to Carnival of Carnage/Ringmaster. At the very least I was hoping this would be another Hells Pit type album but it doesn't sound like it. Sounds like it's going to be all over the place again.

But I'll reserve any further judgement. It's not like anything can be done about it now. After listening to it again I don't hate it or anything. Like before I heard it, I don't have much of an opinion. It's too scattered around to analyze. It's good to hear Legz Diamond back though.
